WND Inquiry Prompts Sudden Action for Olive Tree Videos

A Christian ministry’s YouTube channel, which was suspended permanently on Saturday through an unsigned notice from the division of Google, was reinstated on Monday when WND inquired about the action, specifically questioning what was offensive in the interview by Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries with Tom Doyle about his book, “Killing Christians: Living the Faith Where it’s Not Safe to Believe.”

A YouTube spokesperson told WND, “When it’s brought to our attention that a video or channel has been removed mistakenly, we act quickly to reinstate it.”

Markell told WND she was shocked and stunned when contacted by WND with word of the restoration, but very glad that her ministry’s work once again was available to supporters through YouTube. She confirmed to WND all material that had been blocked on Saturday once again was available on Monday.

But she did express some concerns about how the situation developed.

The fight apparently isn’t over, but for now, Christians in the Chi Alpha organization have been allowed to return to campuses in the California State University system.

According to officials with the Becket Fund, which worked on the fight, the student organizations were kicked off several campuses because as Christian groups, they required their leaders to be Christian.

The university said with that restriction, they would not be allowed on campus, and, in fact, locked them out of the space the members had reserved to use.

But they’ve returned now, after the college admission that the group’s don’t have to pick leaders that are non-Christian – they just have to let them be candidates.

The Becket Fund said the Christian student club had been around for years, choosing to call themselves by the Greek letters that stand for “Christ’s Ambassadors.”

Then the university pulled their permission to meet, citing the group’s requirement that those who lead worship and Bible study share Christian beliefs.

That, the school said, was “religious discrimination.”

Its parent group is Chi Alpha National, a division of the Assemblies of God, which is one of the 10 largest churches in the U.S. It has nearly 30,000 students in its programs.

Becket reported, “Their Christian faith is what unites them and motivates them to serve. And while Chi Alpha membership is open to any student, Chi Alpha asks that the students that lead its worship services and teach its Bible studies actually believe its Christian message.”

The organization explained when the dispute erupted, “Today at Cal State, the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance can (and should be allowed to) require its leaders to be feminists. The Young Democrats can (and should be allowed to) require their president to be a Democrat. And frats can require their leaders to be men. But neither Chi Alpha – nor any other religious group – can require its leaders to believe in the message the group exists to teach.”

ISLAMIC STATE RELEASES 10 MORE KIDNAPPED CHRISTIANS

The Islamic State (IS) has released 10 more Assyrians from over 200 indigenous Christians who had been kidnapped from their communities in northeastern Syria in February.

The civilians, five men and five women, were released Tuesday evening, the Assyrian Human Rights Network (AHRN) reported.

The released hostages, from Tel Shamiram, Tel Jazeera, Qabr Shamiya and Tel Fayda, are all said to be “in good health,” AHRN added.

On Feb. 23, IS jihadists overran 35 Assyrian villages on the Khabur River in the northeastern Hasaka province. IS captured 253 Christians in the initial attack and drove 3,000 Assyrians from their villages.

Since the beginning of March at least 95 Assyrian hostages, mostly the sick and elderly, have been released by IS in separate groups. In October, it filmed the killing of three Assyrian hostages and threatened more if demands were not met.

The latest group of freed hostages comes as a result of ongoing negotiations, AHRN said, declining to disclose details on the nearly eight months of negotiations, citing “the gravity and sensitivity of the situation.”

IS still holds 158 hostages from the Khabur area in addition to 185 Assyrians IS captured in Qaryatain, in the western Syrian province of Homs, in early August.

Syria is ranked #4 on Open Doors’ 2015 World Watch List (www.worldwatchlist.us) of the 50 worst persecutors of Christians.

The Truth About the Crusades

The Crusades cause people too much confusion. The view seems to be, there is little to defend in them, and even many Catholics tend to grow weary of “Crusades apologists.” Weren’t the Crusades an appalling example of an excess of violent zeal to beat down infidels? (For the Church only sent warriors after the Muslims because they were not Catholic. That is what we are told.) Even John Paul II apologized for them*,  and surely no one wants to repeat that sad episode in Church history.

[*That’s the presumption, anyway. The pope did not apologize for the Crusades of themselves, but only for misdeeds done in battle.]

We learned this from a local Serbian Christian and veteran Special Forces officer in Serbia’s military, named Lazar. We interviewed him and this is the information he conveyed to us. He said “They also kill people and sell their organs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia.” He then said,


They abduct people in Kosovo, Serbian people — in some cases Albanian people — and they take their organs… they torture the people and take their organs while they are still live.

He added that the victims are mostly “Christians serbs, young women, and men, and also children.” Here is the interview in which he explained this us this.

Many will consider it difficult to believe one man’s account. As I questioned Lazar on the issue, he sent me a video of a European documentary by Deutsche Welle which is part of Germany’s International Broadcaster researched and confirmed how Albanian terrorists were taking organs from Christian Serbs and selling their organs.

Who gave us freedom of religion, press, speech?

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, World War I ended

Though the Armistice was signed at 5:00 a.m. on Nov. 11, 1918, the fighting continued till 11:00 AM, killing nearly 11,000 more men.

In 1921, President Warren Harding had the remains of an unknown soldier killed in France buried in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery. Inscribed on the tomb are the words: “Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God.”

On Oct. 4, 1924, at the dedication of the monument to the American Expeditionary Forces in Washington, D.C., President Calvin Coolidge stated: “They did not regard it as a national or personal opportunity for gain or fame or glory, but as a call to sacrifice for the support of humane principles and spiritual ideals. … If anyone doubts the depth and sincerity of the attachment of the American people to their institutions and Government, if anyone doubts the sacrifices which they have been willing to make in behalf of those institutions and for what they believe to be the welfare of other nations, let them gaze upon this monument and other like memorials that have been reared in every quarter of our broad land. Let them look upon the representative gatherings of our veterans, and let them remember that America has dedicated itself to the service of God and man.”

Armistice Day was changed to Veterans Day in 1954 to honor all who have served defending the United States. In 1958, President Eisenhower placed soldiers in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from WWII and the Korean War.

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan placed a soldier from the Vietnam War in the tomb. DNA test later identified him as pilot Michael Blassie, a graduate of St. Louis University High School, 1966, and the U.S. Air Force Academy, 1970. Flying an A-37B Dragonfly, he was shot down near An Loc, South Vietnam. In 1998, Michael Blassie was reburied at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

On Nov. 11, 1921, President Harding stated: “On the threshold of eternity, many a soldier, I can well believe, wondered how his ebbing blood would color the stream of human life, flowing on after his sacrifice … I can sense the prayers of our people. … Let me join in that prayer. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. …”

Charles Michael Province, U.S. Army, wrote the poem:

WHO IS YOUR ESCORT TO YOUR DESTINY?

 

The further one goes into lies to advance deceptive, self-gaining goals, the deeper the destruction of your heart and mind. It goes so dark the door of conscience is closed. The filtering of right and wrong is removed. The "door slammers" will then do and say anything no matter how wrong, no matter how untrue, and no matter who gets hurt or killed.  This is what some label as "going off the deep end." It's that dark, deep hole with an escort...the prince of this world.

UNDERSTAND HOW EVIL TAKES A SOUL INTO DARKNESS.  Many think those few, little steps of compromising won't matter in the beginning, but the first rope only gets longer and more restricting until life is choked out and the darkness completes its soul takeover.  DECEPTION, LYING, PRIDE, GREED, HATE, REVENGE AND SLANDER ALL LEAD INTO TRAPS THAT SUFFOCATE A SOUL.

It seems profitable in the beginning, especially if all about you are those doing the same and telling you it is ok, and telling you that you won't get caught or exposed, that you are a fool for not "coming in" and getting what you can any way you can.  The tempter even tells you that you deserve it all for all the "work" you do. It's like those "in the water" prodding you to jump right in, telling you the "water is fine."  KNOW WHO THAT IS TALKING TO YOU?  Those are the voices of empty souls who took Satan's same trappings and now have the life choked out of them. You have the tempter's taken souls roaming like a lion to devour your own soul.

You may think some of the most important decisions you make are school, career, marriage, parenting and other life-living choices. They are important life events, but if God is not in the center of your heart and mind, if you do not place Him between you and all your choices, if you do not know Jesus and the Word of God and walk alone, then you are vulnerable bait for the false light of this world who uses his well planned and executed traps to steal your life and soul. If you know the Lord yet have a limited amount of your heart and soul invested in time with Him, you are also vulnerable to attack. If you are not guarding your heart and mind every day, staying in God's Word every day, seeking the Lord in all your ways, your time, your decisions, the grand charmer sees the "holes" in the wall of your soul and will  slither in.

Many serving in our government, our courts, our media, our schools and other organizations have made their own "deals with the devil" thinking they are in charge of themselves and their own works.  Oh, they've taken the poison Satan placed before them, convinced them it is alright and even that they deserve more and more.  Look at them in their fine suits and clothes, and offices, and titles.....all polished up for what?  Their own graves of darkness forever.... EMPTY SOULS, allowing the poison of deception into their hearts and minds in order to gain the dust of worldly pleasures that will never satisfy but only create pain and destruction and loss.

Satan flashes his bright, alluring lights and presents his way as the only road to happiness and joy. Whatever your vulnerability is, wealth, power, pride, that is where he will flash his deceptive lights. You have two choices at that very important moment. You can walk with Satan or walk with God. God will sustain you, but Satan will begin to knock your feet out from under you as you are emptied of the only nourishing stream of love and direction to satisfy and sustain... your Father in heaven. On earth, Satan's storms will be relentless against your soul. You have ONE secure stand to endure them all... your firm grip on your Father God in heaven, your washing by the blood of Jesus Christ, and your filling with the Holy Spirit.  Stand firm, reject the tempter fast and strong, and continue in your walk with God who loves you and never leaves your side....your escort ... your heavenly Father.  Choose Him. Go with Him. Be with Him. Stay with Him. Reject the flashy, cunning hitchhiker who really wants you to throw out your escort and destroy your soul. A Syrian priest who was held captive for months by the Islamic State terror group before being released said he was kept in an underground dormitory with 250 other Christians who refused to convert to Islam despite being pressured every day.

"The Christians were often questioned about their faith and about the Christian doctrine, and they did not convert to Islam despite much pressure. They were faithful to the recitation of the rosary. This experience of trial strengthened the faith of everyone, including my faith as a priest. IS, which has captured several cities across Iraq and Syria, has taken large groups of Christian hostages, and imposed contracts on those who remain, forcing them to live under harsh conditions or be killed.

Murad was abducted by jihadists from the Monastery in the outskirts of Qaryatayn together with a co-worker on May 21, but was finally released on Oct. 11.

Italian news agency ANSA reported that sources close to the priest affirmed he had been freed earlier this month, but they did not provide any details surrounding his release.

The priest said that he kept up hopes despite his kidnapping: "Even while being deported, with my hands tied behind my back, I surprisingly found myself repeating again and again: I am going toward freedom."

IS, which captured Qaryatayn in August, has forced Christians still living in the city to pay the Islamic jizya tax and agree to a long list of demands if they are to remain at their homes.

The terror group has captured other Christians as well, and is still holding at least 180 Assyrians that it kidnapped in mass raids from villages in the Khabur river valley in February.

Reports emerged in October that the terrorists planning to execute the 180 Assyrians after negotiators failed to meet the high asking price for their release.

The negotiations, led by Bishop Ephrem Otnaial, head of the Church of the East in Syria, have been suspended due to the unbearable demands of the terror group," revealed Osama Edward, director of the Assyrian Human Rights Network, noting that IS has asked for as much as $12 million.

"ISIS threatened to execute the 180 hostages if we didn't pay the ransom," he continued.

It is not yet known what has happened with the captured Assyrians, but IS has already executed scores of Christians and other minorities throughout its captured territory by beheading and other methods.

Kuwait Airways is clinging to an anti-Semitic law that bans the sale of tickets to Jews on its New York-London flights, according to a New York attorney fighting the practiceThat’s even though the U.S. government has ordered the company based in the Muslim nation to halt such discrimination in the United States.

Lawyer Jeffrey A. Lovitky, who several years ago had exposed a similar practice by Delta Airlines due to a code-sharing arrangement with Saudi Arabian Airlines, told WND that Kuwait Airways’ permission to use American airports should be terminated.

“Kuwait Airways is acting at the explicit direction of the government of Kuwait in excluding Israeli citizens from its flights between New York and London,” he told WND.

“The Kuwaiti government’s embrace of the Arab boycott of Israel is a manifestation of its deep hostility towards the Jewish people. I call upon the Congress to make it a crime for any company to boycott Israeli citizens, when such boycott is at the direction of a foreign government.

“And I call upon the Secretary of Transportation to emphatically reject this manifestation of bigotry against the Jewish people, by immediately terminating Kuwait Airways permit to fly between the United States and the United Kingdom,” he said.

Lovitky said he filed a formal complaint with the Department of Transportation in 2013 alleging illegal discrimination.

It was rejected because Kuwait Airways “was required to follow Kuwait law.”  But he said when he filed a lawsuit, on behalf of Eldad Gatt of Jerusalem against the federal agency, the decision ultimately was reversed.

INDONESIA: UPDATE - NINE CHURCHES DESTROYED

Nine churches in Aceh province, Indonesia, have been torn down. The demolitions took place from 19 to 23 October and followed an outbreak of religious violence in which a church was burned to the ground, one person lost their life, and an estimated 8,000 Christians displaced.

Under pressure from extremists, the local authorities had listed 10 unlicensed churches for closure. But Muslim extremists demanded that two other churches, which were known for their big congregations, should also be demolished. "Or else, the radicals will deploy around 7,000 people [to attack]," said Rudi* a local church activist.

The government gave in to the demand. Church members wept as they watched in despair civil police officers hammering down their worship houses. The some 1,000 churchless believers have been prohibited from raising temporary tents to hold Sunday worship service. Instead, they were advised to go to churches in other villages.

Meanwhile, another 13 churches that were not in the closure list are given six months to apply for a permit. The government also promised a worship center for those whose churches have been destroyed, but many Christians are skeptical as permits are difficult to obtain and government's promises for minorities are rarely delivered.

In the wake of the violence, thousands of Christians fled the region. According to some sources, all refugees have been repatriated by the government..

State Claims to Control Prayer at Catholic School

North Dakota’s high school athletic authorities claim they have the authority to control prayer at a school.

State athletic authorities in North Dakota say they can control prayer at a private, Catholic school on its own football field, with its own announcers, students and parents in attendance. The dispute erupted when Fargo’s Shanley High School advanced to the state football playoffs and earned the right to hold a playoff game this Saturday on its own field.

The school of 330 students, which promises on its website “excellent educational programs where faith is integrated with academic subjects through weekly Masses, daily prayer and faith-sharing experiences,” had conducted game-time prayer over its PA system all season long.

But for the playoffs, the North Dakota High School Activities Association, warned the school that “prayer before the football game is prohibited by the Supreme Court’s decision fifteen years ago in Santa Fe Independent School District v. Doe,” according to a letter from the Thomas More Society, a national public interest law firm representing the school.

“Santa Fe is certainly binding on public schools when it comes to the question of prayer before sports games. However, the case is completely inapposite here. Shanley is not a governmental actor. It is a private school, with a religious identity. When it hosts sports events, it does so as a private actor, and its religious expression cannot legitimately be characterized as that of the state,” the letter to the association said.  Officials with the NDHSAA declined WND’s request to comment on the dispute.
