Remember what a big deal it was when a Muslim woman was politely asked to take off her head coverings before she was allowed to enter an Omaha bank? In that case, the rules were clearly posted on the outside of the establishment, and patrons were given the option, if they didn’t want to comply, to use the drive thru bank.
The bank stated that their policy was based on security concerns because they had been robbed more than once during the previous year by individuals who masked their identities with head coverings.
The bank was accused of religious discrimination for asking a woman to take off her burka, just as they would ask a man to take of his sunglasses or baseball cap.
In an ironic twist on what is becoming acceptable and not acceptable in society, a public school in Colorado has decided that it would be appropriate to force it students to adhere to the rules of Islamic garb as they visited a mosque in Denver during a field trip.
